In the grand scheme of things computer cookies are not a bad thing. They show a returned user their preferred setting and they help web-developers understand what works and what doesn't. But, DATA, your personal data, that is something different! I don't want to block cookies or not to give the developer the information they need. I want to anonymize my visit so that although I get the preferences I want, my personal data isn't tracked, while the data can still be collected. They don't need to know my name, they just need to know that I have been there and used something. I would like to see an added level of security to computers, and/or websites, an extension or an app, that switches your cookies to annonymous data that can still be useful, without exposing you to collectors or exploiters. It would also be helpful if that app or extension showed the uses of the cookies collected. The better the concept is understood by the consumer, the more able the consumer is to make their choice. That being said, what is advertised if not often what you recieve - although there are companies tasked with the sifting through and wagging a finger (fines and recalls, billions of dollars worth), advertisors are highly insentivized to continue the practice. Transparency is needed - if you are not willing to state clearly what you will do with the information you are given, you shouldn't be allowed to have it. "Nothing illegal here" isn't the statis quo - and therefor simply stating that is no longer enough. Most people don't look at the labels, don't download the protective extensions and apps. It's hard to understand. How could this app make that easier, intuitive? #fightdatatheft
An application or web extension that shows you local options - specifically things like books, music, art or bulk items. The app would need two parts - on the part of the promoter you would ping the product (say a book you are recommending). When the webpage was displayed on the computer, the reader would show interest by clicking on the book or title or pinged word. The app would locate closest retailer and suggest prices. It would be like the opposite of affiliated links. The idea being to promote local sales and off-set the amazon craze. Amazon is a huge company that has some serious problems (climate, economic and bad employment practices). In general, we use our computers as a basic shopping link. To restore balance to universe, we need to change our basic habits. Single serving plastic extravaganzas are a modern invention. If we change our shopping habits companies will change theirs too. Be the change you want to see! #amazonisnotking
Create an app that takes a picture of your goods in the fridge and gives you information about what should be used first, suggested recipes, reminding you of things that need to be eaten before they go bad. #reducefoodwaste
Similar to model UN, an online resource for teaching children/teens about "international relations." The first aspect is to understand what makes a country, borders, resources and conflicts. The second is to understand the extensive infrastructure that goes into a country, logistics, medical, educational, environmental, legal, etc.
